Swank Lighting to launch 21st. Century Murano Lamps

Well they’re really not Murano, they are fashioned after our most popular vintage Murano Lamps. We contracted with Los Angeles glass artist Joe Cariatito hand blow the glass for this exciting product line extension.

Joe Cariati is a designer and glassblower from Los Angeles who produces high quality, 100% hand-made, hand-crafted contemporary glassware. His collection of elegant bottles, bowls and vases are a response to the need for original hand-made work to be accessible, affordable and unique. All work is made by Joe, from start to finish using a Venetian off-hand glassblowing technique that makes each piece one-of-a-kind. Joe’s glass collection is available at finer stores throughout the U.S. including Barneys, Gumps, and Haven.

The first phase of this new line will include 4 Joe Cariati designs inspired by his favorite vintage pieces at Swank Lighting. Each design will be available in 5 hot colors.

Here are a few more teaser photos of the first batch to come out of the oven.

So Haute!!

I just ran across the coolest blog this morning doing my daily google search for “murano lamps”. Of course that is my favorite morning activity. I always find great website and wonderful blogs. It also helps to see what the competition is doing as well as the designers using vintage murano lamps in their projects.
Well when I came upon SoHaute!, I had the most fun reading along with Nicole as she described her fun Saturday antiquing Downtown NYC. She took me into stores I didn’t know existed. I felt like I was there. Check it out and enjoy. Let Nicole know you visited too.
Nicole describes herself as a “20 something NYC resident from somewhere in Michigan”. She works as a publicist in the fashion industry by day and does all the wonderful things young New Yorkers do after hours and weekends. If you, like I have lived in or spent time in New York, you’ll enjoy reading along as Nicole chronicles her experiences in the greatest city on earth.
Oh, and the Murano Lamps Nicole was telling us about are pictured here. Aren’t they HOT sitting on those Dorothy Draper Chests?
